Queens Business & Community Leaders Together Again!

Queens Business & Community Leaders Together Again! For two years, the Queens Chamber of Commerce was unable to hold its annual St. Patrick’s Day luncheon due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fast forward to 2022, and this event returned with a bang on March 16 at Terrace in the Park.

Larry Zogby, owner of RDS, was there to celebrate along with hundreds of business and community leaders. Tom Grech, president and CEO of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, called dealing with the pandemic the past two years “hell on earth.” And Queens Borough President Donovan Richards remembered the thousands of lives lost but also delivered a message of hope.

“It was so great for all of us to be able to gather together again,” Zogby said. “There were some somber moments as we acknowledged those lost to the pandemic and we paid tribute to the two NYPD police officers who recently lost their lives in the line of duty. But it was also a joyous occasion as we celebrated Irish heritage and culture, which has played such an important role in Queens and the rest of New York City.”

We Were Honored Again This Year to Help With Purim Deliveries

When a customer comes back to you year after year to handle a monster delivery task, it says an awful lot about how great you are at your job. This year marks the 14th time our friends at Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun have entrusted us with delivering about 1,000 Purim gifts to recipients throughout the New York City area.

This would be an overwhelming task for courier services that are less experienced than RDS. But we rely on our extensive pre-delivery planning, state-of-the-art technology and amazing team to get the job done.

On delivery day, our warehouse employees pick, pack and load the gifts. Then, our drivers use smart technology to sort the packages on the trucks and to establish the quickest route to each delivery point.

Purim, which was observed on March 16 and 17 this year, is a holiday
commemorating how the Jewish people were saved from extermination by Haman. It is a celebration filled with feasting, gladness and rejoicing—and also includes sending gifts to the poor.

Do you have deliveries that need to arrive safely, seamlessly and on time? Your friends at RDS would love to help. Learn more about our specialized delivery services and our incredible technology.

This Month’s Employee Spotlight—Introducing Leah!

We’re so proud of our amazing team and we want you to learn how amazing they are, too. This month, we’d like to introduce you to Leah Soo Ting, a customer support representative who works remotely from Trinidad. Recently, we were fortunate to have Leah working in our Long Island City office while she was visiting family in Queens. Leah even joined Larry at a business lunch with an RDS client with 30-plus employees in NYC and 50-plus employees in India.

What makes RDS the “complete package” for you?

Working at RDS feels more like being part of a family rather than just “working for a company.” The staff is extremely helpful and supportive. The communication is great among everyone from top to bottom.

How does RDS “deliver the goods” to make your life easier or fun at work?

The easiest part of working with Larry and his team is that help is just a “step” or phone call away even though some of us are remote.

How do you “deliver the goods” to make RDS’ customers happy?

My role as customer support is to make the customer’s process of placing/tracking an order as easy as possible—whether it’s a new customer who needs more information or a regular who is familiar with our day-to-day operation. I field questions and try to get their orders in our system quickly and seamlessly. They need quick and reliable service and that’s exactly what we can provide.

When you’re not at work, what “transports” and fulfills you?

My hobbies outside of work include reading, cooking/eating and going to the beach. There is nothing more powerful than knowledge so a good book is always a win. Coming from a background of chefs, cooking is second nature. The outdoors really is an escape for me, but I particularly enjoy the beach.

What about you? Do you want to work for a great company that truly cares about its employees? Check out our job opportunities here.

Learning Should be a Lifelong Passion—Just Ask Larry

Leaders who are passionate about their businesses are always eager to learn more. And everyone who knows our leader, Larry Zogby, knows he is passionate about RDS, his team and his community.

That’s why it’s no surprise that Zogby is now an executive MBA student at the Kellogg School of Management. He and two fellow students have been hard at work interviewing small business owners in the New York/New Jersey area about how they run their businesses. The information they gather will be developed into case studies that focus on the problems and opportunities small business leaders face, how they approach them and what other business leaders can learn from these experiences.

The case studies and interviews are based on the book, “Roadside MBA: Backroad Lessons for Entrepreneurs, Executives and Small Business Owners”. Zogby and his fellow students are being guided in class by the professors who wrote this book.

We are very proud of you, Larry Zogby! We can’t wait to read the finished product.
