We Were Happy to Help Friends of Karen

non profit group

At RDS, we’ve proven time and time again that giving back to our community isn’t just a rare thing we do to make ourselves look good. Giving back is our way of life.

Here’s a recent example: Friends of Karen, a non-profit group that helps critically ill children and their families in the tri-state area, needed help with a logistical challenge. Team members wanted to get more than 50 boxes of donated school supplies into the hands of school-aged children. But first, they needed the items to be transported to Friends of Karen’s headquarters in Westchester.

Talk about a job in our wheelhouse! And we were happy to do it—free of charge.

In a Google review, Leslie Bellissimo, regional director of Friends of Karen, thanked our company and one very special driver.

“Their very sweet driver, Mickey, was awesome! He was kind, professional and got the job done in a timely and efficient manner,” Leslie wrote. “We are so grateful to have had the pleasure of working with such an amazing company!”

We were so very happy to help, Leslie!

How about you? Are you a local non-profit (or company supporting a good cause) with a logistics challenge that we might be able to solve free of charge? Reach out and we’ll see what we can do.

Of course, we can’t handle every request. But we will do our best!

RDS Owner Tackles Challenging Issues at Logistics Forum

While some people steer clear of thorny subjects and hard-to-solve problems, this isn’t RDS owner Larry Zogby’s style. He loves diving in and helping to solve some of the toughest challenges in the logistics industry. That’s one reason he served as a panelist in Miami this summer at the CLDA (Customized Logistics & Delivery Association) Final Mile Forum & Expo.

The session’s focus was driver shortages and “The Great Resignation,” an ongoing economic trend in which employees are voluntarily leaving their jobs in huge numbers due to frustrations over wages, job satisfaction, COVID-19 and other issues. One of the possible solutions discussed was recruiting employees from overseas, a strategy Larry has used very successfully for RDS.

During the rest of the two-day expo, Larry looked for as many opportunities as possible to learn about the area and to bond with other participants, including RDS client and first-time expo attendee Worldnet International.

We’re Shining Our Employee Spotlight on Nellie

We love introducing members of our team to all of you. This month, we’re focusing our Employee Spotlight on Nellie Gonzalez, our accounts receivable guru.

Here’s what Nellie had to say about working at RDS:

What makes RDS the “complete package” for you?

The staff. I enjoy that we can be ourselves and literally are like a big family. I love that we can be our authentic selves at all times.

How does RDS “deliver the goods” to make your life easier or fun at work?

The environment is like no other, We all work hard, rely on each other for support. We have tons of fun, play games, have outings and break bread together to bond.

How do you “deliver the goods” to make RDS’ customers happy?

I am the accounts receivable manager, so building a trusting and respectful relationship with our customers is crucial.

When you’re not at work, what “transports” and fulfills you?

My children and my mom are my world. I love to have fun, joke, listen to music, dance, cook, eat and create new memories with my family and friends.

What about you? Do you want to work for a great company that truly cares about its employees? Check out our job opportunities here.
